Course Material

The textbook, Convex Optimization by Stephen Boyd and Lieven Vandenberghe, is available online (book website).   All other material (lecture slides, exercises, and homework assignments) will be available on this website.   Slides from previous years are available at https://www.seas.ucla.edu/~vandenbe/ee236b/ee236b.html.

 

Course Requirements

  • Weekly homework. For computational problems we will use CVX (available at cvxr.com), a MATLAB software package for convex optimization. Python users are welcome to use CVXPY (available at cvxpy.org).
  • Open-book final exam.  The exam will  be 3-hour remote exam on Monday, March 14, 8am-11am.

Weights in final grade: homework 30%, final exam 70%.
