Follow this guide to upload a Bruin Learn course banner image.
Find a banner image
It’s important that you know that you can’t just use any image that you find on the internet to use in your course. Please review the resources below to find an image that is royalty-free or one that you can use with attribution.
Find resources that are royalty free or free to use with provided attribution:
- Wikimedia Commons Links to an external site. - a variety of images, some in the public domain, many available to use with attribution.
- Flickr search “No Known Copyright Restrictions” Links to an external site. - a compilation of images with no known restrictions on their use. Many historical and government archive photos.

Do you have an image that you captured or created yourself? If so, great! You don’t have any restrictions on your own images.
Recommended banner image sizes
The recommended Bruin Learn course banner size should be in a 10:3 aspect ratio.

If you need to crop your image, there are a number of free image editing applications available. You could also try imageresizer.com Links to an external site.
Upload your banner image to Bruin Learn
Upload your image to your course site.
- Click on Files in your Bruin Learn course left navigation menu
- Select Upload and select your banner image.
- Navigate to your Home page and select Edit.
- Click on the banner image to select it.
- Select the image icon at the top of the Rich Content Editor. The Rich Content Editor includes the large text field where you can add text information and all the options to edit text, add a link, embed a Kaltura video, etc.). Choose Course Images from the drop-down menu.
- Select your banner image.
- Save the page.
- Review how your image is placed in the banner. Is it centered?
- If it’s not centered, click Edit at the top of the page.
- Select the image, then select the Centered paragraph button.
- Save the page.
